December TBR

To be honest, I am tired of the usual TBR posts. It feels tedious… Does anyone else feel that way? I decided to change this up by just listing a few bullet points, summarizing why I am excited to read this book for the month of December.

• My favorite genre: Fantasy! (Also Young adult)
• F/F romance. Representation is always good in a book.
• Fascinating concept: Automae rebelled against their human owners, turning the status quo on its head.
• Fantasy duology; sequel is slated to be released in 2020.
• I love this cover; it immediately caught my attention.

Echo North is a mash up of several different fairy tales, including Beauty and the Beast. Don’t let the fact that it is a fairy tale retelling drive you away. The author introduces an imaginative and spellbinding aspect to a well known fairy tale. The story follows a girl named Echo, whose father has disappeared. Months later, she finds him in the forest barely alive. She runs into a talking wolf, who offers to save her father in return for Echo staying with him in his magical house beneath the mountain for a year. As she learns to tend to the house, she discovers the many enchanted rooms within, including a library containing these book-mirrors. Within these stories, she meets a man named Hal who is trapped in these stories. She determines that she must figure out how to save both Hal and the Wolf before her time is over.

Samantha Shannon, author of The Bone Season, is releasing a high fantasy novel. It features both magic AND dragons. Do I need to say more? I am looking forward to this novel because I greatly enjoyed the first three books of The Bone Season. I enjoyed the world building, getting to know all about London and the way it worked, As a high fantasy novel, I am sure that there will be quite a bit of information and world building that we need to have in order to understand to throughly enjoy this novel.
